This week's podcast features Steve McClure, chief operating officer of Spectrum Cos., a real estate development company that just started construction on an 11-story office building in Charlotte's South End neighborhood. Optimism about Charlotte's prospects convinced Spectrum and partner Invesco to start the project despite the pandemic. McClure joined Spectrum in 2004 and became COO in 2017. Founded in 1982, Spectrum has developed more than 4 million square feet of commercial space and more than 4,400 multifamily units. The company has more than 4.5 million square feet of commercial property under management and more than 2,200 multifamily units in a portfolio valued at $2 billion. He has a bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University and a Duke University MBA.
